Why this animal

I paint the animal because it is beside nature that I finally feel in my place, in a world that can be too brutal. The knife carries the power of the predator that hunts to feed, the only strength that never wounds me. By welcoming the piece into your home, you welcome a totem, not an object.

Every piece begins on the studio floor

Le Conquérant in the making: the Isorel panel cut to the silhouette, laid on the floor between the acrylic tubes and the knife. No print, no generated image: material laid by hand, layer after layer, up to the relief that catches the light. That work is what you hang in your home.

The artist

Totem Sauvage is the image of my soul: passionate, colourful, raw and alive.

I am self-taught. I first tried every painting technique I could, sought to reproduce photographs exactly, for hours on end. I spent years honing my craft, flitting from one style to another without ever really finding my place.
