Why this animal
The striding gorilla is the totem of territory: strength that moves forward, takes up space and asks no permission. Le Conquérant brings that forward energy into your home, the kind that opens the way instead of waiting for it. Camille painted it for the one who takes their place rather than waiting to be given it.
Le Conquérant is a gorilla caught mid-stride, in profile, fists on the ground, mouth open in a cry that announces its passage. Its dark mass is worked in russet browns and warm ochres, streaked with turquoise, yellow and red: every step seems to send colour vibrating down to the knuckles.
It is a large-format Isorel panel, cut to the exact silhouette of the primate, a wall relief several centimetres thick. The knife follows the movement of the stride: the impastos stretch in the direction of the momentum, and raking light catches every streak like a muscle in action.
After Le Sage, who contemplates, and L'Indomptable, who refuses, Le Conquérant advances: it is the totem of territory taken, of strength that asks no permission. A unique piece, hand-painted and signed by Camille, delivered with its certificate of authenticity.
