Totem Sauvage is the image of my soul: passionate, colourful, raw and alive.
I am self-taught. I first tried every painting technique I could, sought to reproduce photographs exactly, for hours on end. I spent years honing my craft, flitting from one style to another without ever really finding my place.
Of an extreme sensitivity, I have always had nature and animals as the dominant thread of my existence. That is where the most beautiful, the most sacred, the most marvellous lives, and that is where I finally feel in my place, in a society sometimes too brutal for a being like me. The only violence that does not wound me is that of the predator hunting to feed its young or itself: there, I see power as a necessity.
Totem Sauvage is the culmination of everything that composes me. The day I understood that the raw essence of animality, raised in vivid, contrasting colours, in the image of life itself, was my artistic entity, I found my place by finding my style. Subjects that move me, a technique that resembles me.
Camille Marchand, known as Camille, a self-taught animal painter based in Riorges, in the Loire (France), today exhibits her works in galleries and on Totem Sauvage. Each piece is accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.
A professional painter since 2010, with hundreds of works sold before Totem Sauvage even opened in 2025. The gallery is recent; the hand that paints is not.

Frequent questions
What technique do you use?
The totems are executed in acrylic with a palette knife on Isorel, a rigid fibreboard panel cut to the animal's silhouette. This panel, known as masonite outside France, is the support of choice for impasto: Pollock, Miró and Frida Kahlo all painted on it, it does not flex under the material and preserves the relief intact over time. The Gentlemen portraits are hand painted on panel. For the totems, no brush: only the painting knife to create thick and vibrant textures.
Are the works unique pieces?
Yes, each work is unique. No reproduction exists, no limited edition. What you purchase is the original, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
Do you offer custom commissions?
Yes, personalised commissions are possible. Contact us to discuss your project: animal, dimensions, colour palette.
How much does an original work cost?
Original works available in the gallery range from 75 to 645 euros depending on format and collection: the large totems from 190 to 645 euros, and the small Gardiens formats from 75 to 95 euros depending on format and collection, and Les Gentlemen at 120 euros. Each piece is unique, signed and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity; a gallery piece priced at 150 euros or more is paid in full, or reserved with a 30% deposit and the balance before shipping, while a piece under 150 euros is paid in full, with no deposit. A bespoke commission, by contrast, is paid in full and runs from 90 euros for a head to 180 euros for a full body, and 290 euros for a large full-body piece.
How long to create a commissioned work?
Between four and six weeks depending on the size of the panel, the thickness of material and drying. Each piece requires significant drying time due to the generous impastos. Works shown as available in the gallery are already painted and dry: they ship as soon as payment clears.
What about delivery?
Delivery in mainland France: 12 € per order, free on any order of 300 € or more (displayed prices, VAT included). Each online order covers a single work. Any other destination: quoted on request, write to us before ordering. Professional packaging with rigid cardboard and corner protection. For a bespoke commission, the cost depends on destination and format, and is stated to you before any payment.
