Why this animal

The gorilla is the totem of quiet strength: behind the power, an intelligence that observes and weighs before it acts. Le Sage brings that presence into your home, at once imposing and contemplative, the kind that reassures more than it intimidates. Camille painted it for the one who knows that true strength has no need to perform.

Le Sage is a gorilla standing at full height, fists on the ground, mouth open in a cry that is as much threat as call. Over a dark mass run turquoise blues, iridescent cyans, reds and golds: the fur becomes a field of living colours.

It is a large-format Isorel panel, cut to the exact silhouette of the primate, a wall relief several centimetres thick. The knife impastos restore the density of the coat, the power of the hands, the gravity of the gaze. Raking light brings the material to life as on a true relief.
